 * We are using yoast which is generating our xml sitemap at [https://www.upshow.tv/sitemap_index.xml](https://www.upshow.tv/sitemap_index.xml),
   however there is still a sitemap at [https://www.upshow.tv/sitemap.xml](https://www.upshow.tv/sitemap.xml)
   which is causing issues. I was under the impression that when activating sitemaps
   through yoast this xml sitemap would be removed. How can we remove [https://www.upshow.tv/sitemap.xml](https://www.upshow.tv/sitemap.xml)
   or at least locate where that one is being created to remove it?
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Ftwo-xml-sitemaps-exist%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)
   to see the link]_

 * Hello [@maxfrederick2](https://wordpress.org/support/users/maxfrederick2/)
 * Thanks for reaching out regarding your duplicate XML sitemaps. I can confirm
   that Yoast SEO generates the sitemap [https://www.upshow.tv/sitemap_index.xml](https://www.upshow.tv/sitemap_index.xml),
   while [https://www.upshow.tv/sitemap.xml](https://www.upshow.tv/sitemap.xml)
   is by a third-party plugin you have active. Can you share a screenshot of what
   you have in WordPress > Plugins > Installed plugins? You can use any image-sharing
   service like [https://pasteboard.co/](https://pasteboard.co/), [https://snag.gy/](https://snag.gy/),
   [https://imgur.com/](https://imgur.com/), [https://snipboard.io/](https://snipboard.io/),
   or even upload the screenshot to your website. Once you upload it to an image-
   sharing service, please share the link to the image here.

 * Hi [@maybellyne](https://wordpress.org/support/users/maybellyne/) thank you for

 * Thanks for the helpful screenshot, [@maxfrederick2](https://wordpress.org/support/users/maxfrederick2/).
   By default, when the Yoast SEO XML sitemap feature is turned ON, _/sitemap.xml/_
   should redirect to _/sitemap\_index.xml/_. Please deactive the _Disable WP Sitemaps_
   plugin and see if that happens.
 * I look forward to hearing from you.

 * Hi [@maybellyne](https://wordpress.org/support/users/maybellyne/) I deactivated
   the plugin but id did not redirect to _/sitemap\_index.xml/_ It was still the
   same unformatted xml sitemap

 * Thanks for the feedback, [@maxfrederick2](https://wordpress.org/support/users/maxfrederick2/).
   Please keep that plugin deactivated while we work through this together. The /
   sitemap.xml/ still looks like another plugin is generating it, but I can’t determine
   which one from the list you shared. So I’d recommend a conflict check to know
   the culprit.
 * The fastest way to rule out conflict is to **deactivate all non-Yoast plugins
   and switch to a standard theme** like [Twenty Twenty-Two](https://wordpress.org/themes/twentytwentytwo/).
 * Please test this on your development or staging site if you have one. If not,
   we recommend using the [Health Check & Troubleshooting](https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/)
   plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which **does not affect normal
   visitors to your site**.
 * If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a
   step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: [How to check for plugin conflicts](https://yoast.com/help/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts/).
