I am redesigning a website for a client that wants to divide his shopping cart into 2 parts. One will be food and one will be apparel. The customer needs to be limited to one area or the other when placing the order, (i.e. food and apparel can’t be shipped together). So orders need to be placed separately. The shipping method for food needs to be based on weight and the apparel shipped using a flat rate based on price.

Can someone give me some ideas how this can be accomplished? I am hoping this can be done under on install of Woocommerce, but if not can a site have 2 installations, or would I need to set up a separate site? Any thoughts to start me in the right direction will be greatly appreciated!

    Sue

@designbysue Based on your description it does sound like the best solution would be to treat these as two separate WooCommerce installations. If the product catalog and other settings around shipping will have to be kept separate, I think that creating this as a single store will only create more complexity to try and keep items and settings separate.

You might want to look into setting up a WordPress Multisite Network, where you create two sites on the network with WooCommerce enabled on both.

Sounds like a great suggestion – just have to learn something new (again!) Do you know if I purchase a theme such as rhodes do I need to purchase 2 licenses to make it work on both sites?

Thanks so much for your reply

    Hi Sue,

Do you know if I purchase a theme such as rhodes do I need to purchase 2 licenses to make it work on both sites?

Since the theme you mentioned is not developed by WooCommerce, we’re not sure how their licensing works. I recommend reaching out to the theme support to check if you’d need multiple licenses or whether one license would work.
