Two questions regarding "recently update" notice & width adjustments

1) Please tell me how to make the “recently updated” notification tag larger (the little one that appears next to the title of the recently updated blog article title). I would like users to see it more clearly when I update the article.

2) Also, please tell me how to adjust the article sidebar and body widths. I kind of understand how to do it using the “span6” and “span3” on custom CSS, but I cannot get the sidebars and body width to be what I want.
