Support » Fixing WordPress » "Two Level" Portfolio Filtering

  • I’m a huge fan of AJAX-powered portfolio themes like Garnish (by Orman Clark), but I’ve yet to find one that includes a very particular functionality — the ability to sort by two filters (e.g., category, then sub-category).

With respect to the theme above, I would love to be able to filter by “Applications” and again by, say, “iOS” or “Android.”
I hope this makes sense. Can anyone recommend a theme / plugin / tutorial that may help me achieve this functionality?

Yes… Quicksand. Though this isn’t an AJAX powered package. Nor is it a WordPress plugin or theme. It’s simply a jQuery plugin where you would load all portfolio items on the page, then use the filter options to “hide” what you don’t want. Plus it’s sexy as all 🙂 We use this on our own portfolio site, along with custom AJAX modal stuff.

    Thanks for the advice!

I’m afraid I’ll need to brush up on my jQuery / PHP skills if I hope to implement something like Quicksand or Isotope

If only there were a theme that came out-of-the-box with a multi-level (or category filter + sort) filtering option. …

Sorry, can’t help you there. Unfortunately we build our own themes where I work, so I can’t offer any out-of-the-box solutions. If you decide to try coding it yourself, let me know and I can offer advice and tutorials. Good luck.
