• Hi,

I have two installation. For website and for new blog.

    website.com
    website.com/blog

    1. On website.com I have old blog. How can I turn off this?
    2. I want to remove /blog from post address. In this way: website.com/postname. How to make this in new blog? Is it possible?

    Many thanks in advance

  • 1 – There’s no “turn off” for a blog section. Just delete the articles, categories, tags, etc, and they’ll be removed from your site. That’s all there is to it.

2 – It’s not possible. When you install in a /blog/ folder, that’s the base, so everything must use /blog/. While there are some .htaccess tricks that might be able to remove it, I would really suggest not to do that because it could easily play havoc with the main site if any URL’s are even close.

    Thank you for reply!

    2. So if I have blog on one wordpress and website on other. How can I connect them in way presented above?

I think I can’t move everything to same folder. Is there any other solution to connect this?

    Thanks in advance!

You are right, you can’t move everything to the same folder. At least not by moving just the files.

It will stil work to have your site set up like this, but if it was me, personally I’d remove the /blog/ site completely, and set up my posts to be a blog/news area on the main site. Remember that WordPress can be a “standard” site built with pages and other content types, and a blog with posts at the same time.
