    Hello,
I previously had a WordPress.com site. A few days ago I signed up with Blue Host and downloaded WordPress.org. The download and installation went fine however, trying out different themes I might have messed something up. I seem to be stuck with two home pages (one works, one doesn’t) and a blog page which is not functioning as a blog. My site: http://69.89.31.108/~ragdoll1

I followed all the instructions for creating the pages, than going to settings- reading, choosing home for first page…when I try to make Blog my posting page the drop down menu will not drop down, so I can’t choose anything?

I’m stuck, any theme I choose opens with the same problem. Do I need to trash my WordPress.org download and start again? If so how would I go about that?
    Thanks for your help, Diane

  • Have you tried switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

    Esmi,
yes, I tried it,but same problem. I did manage to get rid of one Home page, and the other Home page now remaining in the menu will open a static page.

“Blog” on the menu bar, when clicked still gives me a static page. When I go to the dashboard under see all posts, there are two posts that I did that are there. Can not view these posts any other way, when I view my site, “Blog” on the menu sends me to a static page.

Also, it’s strange that under settings-reading, I can select Home for the static landing page, but when I try to select a posting page there is no drop down menu action, so I can’t choose anything?
    thanks for your help, Diane

    Esmi,
By clicking around and changing themes, it finally works right. Don’t know how, but it does.
