    Dear team,

we are currently switching from PayPal Plus Plugin from Inpsyde to this plugin. For first steps we trying everything in a testenvironment. But we cannot order one product. In the checkout page, each time we click on PayPal or the Debit/Creditcard button we immediatly get those two errors:

INVALID_PARAMETER_SYNTAX The value of a field does not conform to the expected format.
INVALID_STRING_LENGTH The value of a field is either too short or too long.

But all fields are filled out correctly, the log file does not log anything.
We already changed the test product name and description to very simple ones. With no success (because earlier this year this was an issue.

How can we figure out on which field paypal is complaining.
When using another payment provider the payment process works well.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello @ralfs2

Thank you for reaching out to us, we are here to help.
This type of error is often encountered when another plugin is causing fields to be adjusted. This does not have to be related to the billing details field, but can be any details our plugin requires for finalizing an order.

You may want to perform a full conflict test to rule out eventual issues with the theme or a different plugin. We recommend temporarily activating the default theme Storefront and disabling all other plugins except for WooCommerce and PayPal Payments to see if the behavior persists.

Here’s a guide that explains the steps in more detail: How to test for conflicts
Please let us know how this works out for you.

    Kind regards,
    Joost

    Hi @ralfs2,

This error most likely means that the API credentials are not valid.
I suggest disconnecting your account and reconnecting it with the onboarding wizard, as described here: https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-paypal-payments/#connect-paypal-account
Please let us know if any problems persist after reconnecting. Thanks!

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

    Hi Niklas,

it seems that you were right.
This error is not a conflict with a theme or with a plugin.
I tried to use the setup process for the testaccount manually.
    This is obviously a fault.

I took a look into the PayPal developer account and registered that your plugin sets more things… Webhooks etc.
Now it works in my testing environment…
    Thanks for your hint!

    Hi @ralfs2

Good to hear that (also for me). I have updated our common issue documentation, so this will be the first option we will advise on in any next instance that is being reported to us.

I will mark this thread as resolved, but please don’t hesitate to let us know if there is anything else.

    Kind regards,
    Joost
