# Two directories, different index.html

 * When going into my FTP (Filezilla) I notice that I have two directories (resulting
   into two different websites): ldvins.com and ldvins.com/wordpress.
    Obviously
   when I upload a new plugin on to my wordpress, it shows in the ldvins.com/wordpress
   but when I go to ldvins.com it doesn’t. Naturally I have two different index.
   html too.
 * I guess my problem has to do with giving WordPress its own directory. In my case,
   wordpress is installed in its own folder, so I guess I have to use a pre-existing
   subdirectory installation? I do not want two directoies.

 * You need to follow the steps in [allow WordPress to take over the root domain](https://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory#Using_a_pre-existing_subdirectory_install).
 * If you want to remove the /wordpress sub-folder completely, then you will need
   to review [Moving_WordPress](http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress) but,
   be warned, this will be far more complex than the first solution.
