Support » Plugin: Feed Them Social - for Twitter feed, Youtube and more » Twitter stops working with WordPress 5.1.1

    Hi!
I use the plugin to display a Twitter feed and everything worked fine until I updated WordPress to 5.1.1.
Now I have this message in the back office: “Oh no, something’s wrong.” “You may have entered the information incorrectly please re-enter and try again.”
    And in front I just have a line with a date 31/12/1969 10:00 …

    Thanks for your help!
    Eric

    Hey @ericbourges & @bonnielama,

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing you! We are currently aware of an issue with the Twitter feed and Authentication Button for Feed Them Social. We have contacted Twitter for a resolution and are hoping their support team responds quickly. We really do hope to have a solution as quickly as possible and will contact all of you back as soon as one is found!

We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding in this situation.

    Thanks,
    The SlickRemix Team

Same problem. Just replying here to get e-mail updates.

One work around we do have is to create you own tokens and add them. It’s actually not very difficult either. Learn how to manually create the Consumer Key/Secret and the Access Token/Secret here.

We are so sorry about the delay on the Twitter feed issue for Feed Them Social. As you may know, our Twitter account @slickremix was suspended for an unknown reason. Twitter gives zero details as to why this happened to us. We believe their system may have done it automatically due to a high volume of new users for FTS. We make the process easy using a single click button to get access tokens for you through our Twitter app.

We have spent the last few days trying every avenue to get ahold of Twitter and their support team including calling the headquarters and still they have not responded. They only really give us one “official” method to get in contact via a form on Twitter.

We do have a ticket also on the developers forum but still no response there either. Here is that ticket:
    https://twittercommunity.com/t/users-unable-to-create-apps-through-our-wordpress-plugin-and-twitter-app/123284
If you wish to sign up or user your Twitter account to follow the ticket. You will also get notifications and it will let them know you are following the ticket. This may help get their attention. Please keep it nice if you reply on it.

We will send out another email as soon as we are able to resolve the issue! Hopefully soon, fingers crossed.

Thank for your patience in this situation,

Twitter has FINALLY responded as of yesterday. (Tuesday, March 19th) Apparently, we were suspended for having a few too many Twitter developer Apps on our main Twitter account. The extra apps were for testing purposes from years ago when we first developed FTS. We corrected the issue immediately yesterday and replied back letting them know we are now in back compliance with their Developer Policies. As soon as they review the reply back we should hopefully be unsuspended and the Twitter activation button should come back along with all of the feeds. We will send out another email when this happens. If any updates need to be made to the plugins we will make that happen as quickly as possible.

We are so thankful for everyone being super patient with us through this. Just know, we here at SlickRemix have been doing everything possible to try resolve this this as quickly as possible and that the delay has come from Twitter’s support.

    Thank again,
    The SlickRemix Team

We have good news! Finally, after a week of Twitter Jail we are fully unsuspended!! (Twitter Account and Dev App) 🎉🎉👏
Just to make sure head over to twitter @slickremix and hit the Follow button.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and/or your company/brand! We are SO thankful for all of you being so patient with us. We have barely slept this past week knowing 10’s of thousands of sites had broken Twitter feeds. We really do care about you, your website and our plugins working properly. We reached out to Twitter in every way we could possibly find to get this issue resolved as quickly as we possibly could.

You should now be able to click the “Login and get my Access Tokens” on the Twitter options page or your feed should just be working again. If it is still showing the error please try Clearing the cache by clicking to Feed Them tab > Settings > Global Options > Clear cache
Be sure to clear any other Caching plugins you may have installed also.

If you have a second and wouldn’t mind leaving a review for us, we would be so very grateful. This lets other future potential users know we did our job in difficult times.

Please let us know everything is back to working for you!

    Cheers!

@kimevans Thanks for contacting us. Videos not playing is a different topic. Please start a new thread and include these 3 things please.

    1. The shortcode you are trying to use.
    2. An example link to the problem in question.
    3. The report from the System Info page of our plugin. Click here if you are unsure how to do this. https://www.slickremix.com/docs/system-info-page/
