I have no idea what might cause this.

It would be useful to know the user name you’re pulling in and whether you’re using any profile_image_size settings in a shortcode.

It might even relate to your mobile network. Sometimes they compress traffic on their network and this can cause issues.

The twitter name is @miles_alvinc. And no I am not using any profile_image_settings. I am using the rotating tweets widget not a shortcode

Does it fix the problem if you change the JavaScript settings on the Rotating Tweets settings page?

I’ve also seen some references to templates causing this kind of problem. What template are you using?

Changing the javascript made it worse. Template? What do you mean by template? OR are you referring to the THEME? If so, I am using iThemes Builder – Summit

    Sorry. Theme.

Is this the regular Android browser that is having these problems – or the Chrome Android browser? Or both?

(The methods of debugging these are different).

The regular android browser. Now for some reason both Chrome and Firefox on my laptop (windows 7) are acting weird too. I played with the settings but set them back to the original ones when that didn’t fix the problem.

What was the console saying when you had problems in Windows?

Unfortunately, I can’t replicate this because I don’t normally test paid-for templates to see what the problem might be. The only way I can check this is on the site itself.

(Incidentally, do you get the same problem if you use other templates?)

I viewed the page source in my browser and when I copied and tried to view the profile image (which is the issue) I got an error. Here is the link to the image: https://pbs.twimg.com/profile_images/550707842009690113/h4i2P78F_normal.jpeg
Paste that link in a browser and you will see. Firefox gives an image error and Chrome says the image doesn’t exist.

Is it possible the Twitter app is not configured correctly? I followed the instructions and it worked correctly for a little bit then went wonky.

If I emailed you the login, can you look at it?

In reference to my last comment — here is the correct url for the profile image: https://pbs.twimg.com/profile_images/684154645934026754/xJUPbgpE_normal.jpg

Why is it grabbing the wrong one?

    Plugin Author Martin Tod

    (@mpntod)

That’s really odd. The link is (I think) taken directly from the Twitter database, but I’ll check the code later today and see if something else is happening…

Hey Martin — any luck figuring out why it’s grabbing the wrong Twitter profile image — basically one that doesn’t exist?

The raw data from the Twitter object is telling me that the link is .jpg – and since this data is pulled on the server side, I can’t imagine why and how it would render differently on different browsers.

There’s no browser plug-in that could possibly be substituting links?

Alternatively, sometimes mobile networks cache images strangely (or at least they used to). Do you get the same problem when you access the site (on your mobile) via wifi and via mobile?

The only other thing that might be the problem is if the image was recently changed and the old image is being cached. But this would only be happening if @miles_alvinc only had a few tweets or you were using a search widget.

Does the new version fix this?

    Yes!!! Thank you!!! πŸ™‚

We are still having problems with this same issue after updating on the following domain.

I have tried everything, the image source is still not correct.
