I’m wondering if there is a WP plugin that would integrate with Twitter similar to how it works on Boing Boing Gadgets. I’m pretty sure they use Movable Type there, so I’m guessing I can’t get that exact plugin, but something similar would be nice. It integrates tweets into the_loop and allows comments to be posted against them, but it treats them a little differently than normal blog posts.
Alex King’s Twitter Tools gets me halfway there, by integrating it into the_loop rather than needing to make it into a sidebar widget or a standalone list of tweets. But when it copies the tweets, it creates a full post with a headline and tags and everything, that becomes indistinguishable from “normal” posts. I really like how, on BBG, tweets get their own little block that posts only the tweet text. (As of this writing, the top two posts on BBG are tweets, followed by a normal post, followed by two more tweets, if you want to see an example.)
Anybody done something that accomplishes something similar? Any help is greatly appreciated. 🙂
