I switched from Toast to SEO Framework last week and am loving it. But one strange thing is happening.

I selected the large Twitter card option. This was also my setting with Toast.

I published 4 new posts yesterday, and shared them to Twitter and 3 of them look great. The post in the Art category, however, shows the small Twitter card. I then shared another post from the same category and the same thing happened.

I’ve tried changing the setting, then changing it back, and revalidating the card with the large card. But whatever I do, the small card appears for these posts.

The featured image is the same size for every post in my site.

Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks!

A little light went on right after I posted this.

What differentiates this category ( art) from others is that there’s no test on the page, just large images. I don’t always craft custom meta descriptions. But I typed a very basic one in for the post above, then revalidated the card at Twitter, and voila! — it’s now appearing correctly on Twitter.

Now I know, the lack of description makes a difference with how the card renders when using this plugin, so I’ll go back and make sure that every art post has a custom meta description.

Also, my site is so much faster with the SEO Framework. I’m loving this plugin.

That’s true: descriptions are required for Twitter sharing. It is why the automated description-generation is so essential; alas, it doesn’t work all that well on categories nor content with only images.

Nevertheless, I’m glad you like the plugin! Have a great Sunday 🙂
