    I did this: Added my twitter username in the Social section to try to enable twitter card meta data

    I expected the plugin to do this: Add my correct twitter username to the head section of my blog.

    Instead it did this: When using the twitter card testing tool, testing tool says “Unknown Screen Name: twitter:creator; value=@@thereandbackmn”…

    When I went into my html code in the head section (at http://www.thereandbackagaintravel.com), this is what I found “<meta name=”twitter:card” content=”summary”>
    <meta name=”twitter:site” content=”@thereandbackmn”>
    <meta name=”twitter:creator” content=”@@thereandbackmn”>”

    I had initially put the @ sign in front of my twitter name in the Yoast plugin because I wasn’t sure if it was needed or not, but I took it out (and deactivated the twitter card setting in Yoast, and reactivated it again just to be sure.) I have deleted the plugin and reinstalled it, and installed the developers version as instructed. The extra @ sign is still showing up in my code. Any ideas about where it is getting pulled from?

  • It’s take from the “Twitter Username” section of the author’s bio. One of my users entered this with an @ symbol at the beginning too; just remove that and it should work.
