I notice that the demo version of twentytwelve now works a lot better in IE8: demo link

I also see that the theme is being updated to show the home page in IE8 as it shows in FF or Chrome: update

when will the theme be updated on wordpress.org??

  • I’ve just noticed this as well. Very curious on what the fix was

I would imagine when wp 3.5 is released.

Any idea when this fix is coming out ?

I applied the patch from here to the released version of Twentytwelve to fix the IE8 issue.

Thanks Rocky – I applied the patch as above to my site (http://oaktree-floors.co.uk/) but it still isn’t working properly in IE8

It’s better, but the menu appears vertically rather than horizontally. Works nicely in Firefox

    Any idea ?

that should be “shows a horizontal menu”

tried an experiment with the modified twentytwelve code. created a Home and Blog page, then created the content on the new Home page with the 2 front page widgets and used the Frontpage template for the Home page. Menu shows as a horizontal menu OK, content shows OK, but the content of the 2 frontpage widgets is shown on the right side of the screen, one over top of the other, yuck!!

just took another look at the demo on IE8, top part of screen including the menu looks OK, the bottom part which showing the frontape widgets is not shown OK, widgets are listed wertically, should be listed horizontally, maybe this is why the new code has not been published yet
