[twentysixteen] Menu upon small size no dropdown
-
I noticed that the Primary menu when on a display with restricted space is not going to be a dropdown menu, there is a framed box saying menu which does not react to clicking. This has been tested on a android phone and one a labtop where the space for the display was more and more reduced.
This is a bug.

Can you show us a page with the issue?
helferkreis-lenzkirch.de. With firefox or chrome you reduce the windows width till the primary menu becomes to small to fit in the top line.
Thank you for a prompt response
Bernhard
For some reason your theme’s JavaScript file isn’t being loaded. Can you try deactivating all of your plugins to explore whether any could be responsible?
I had all the plugins deactived and still the menu does not get a dropdown.
(Quite an experiment since the site turned arabic when deactivating qtranslateX and I do not know at all Arabic.)
Hmm could you copy the contents of your theme’s functions.php file and put it into PasteBin: http://pastebin.com/ – and share us that? thanks
There’s nothing obvious in your theme’s functions.php file, so the following recommendation is just a guess.
Do you remember modifying lines 247 to 267 (inclusive)? Lines 257 – 267 are regarding the theme’s JS files.
I checked the original theme’s functions.php file with your theme’s functions.php file and here are the differences (the original file on the left): https://www.diffchecker.com/gxnqywv5
Would it be okay to revert the changes to those lines, to explore whether that could be an issue?
I NEVER changed it myself. I downloaded the zip file on February 15, from a wordpress web site and extracted it to a folder of my desktop. The file functions.php is the same as the one shown to you which has been copied to the provider Strato. Wordfence which compares files with the original files in the repository did not complain about any changes.
Where do I get an “original” file for testing? You may mail it to me: [redacted]Thanks for taking the time.
Bernhard
I see. The original files of each Twenty Sixteen version can be found here:
http://themes.svn.wordpress.org/twentysixteen/You’re using version 1.0 I think, so the 1.0 version files can be found here: http://themes.svn.wordpress.org/twentysixteen/1.0/
And the original functions.php file can be found here:
http://themes.svn.wordpress.org/twentysixteen/1.0/functions.phpReverting the php-file changed anything!
Is it possible to keep your plugins deactivated while we debug the issue? At the moment there are 7 plugins activated.
I can do that. Please wait 5min.
The only one actived is qtranslate otherwise everything becomes arabic.
Thanks. I unfortunately still can’t spot the issue, but what I can do is provide you another way to load the theme’s JS.
- Try installing this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-css-js/
-
Then in the “Edit JS code” section: https://s.w.org/plugins/custom-css-js/screenshot-2.jpg?r=1360808
- Add the code from this file: http://themes.svn.wordpress.org/twentysixteen/1.0/js/functions.js
- Select the “Options” of:
– Linking type: External file
– Where: Footer
– Where: In Frontend - Update
I did the five steps. It did not change anything when pressing Menu. BTW in an other installation with the same source files I see that the Menu buttom is responsive and gives the menu item to change from .
I can grant you administrator privilegs if you like. You can sent me a mail with your email address to my address mentioned before.
