Support » Themes and Templates » TwentyEleven – Making a blank page

  • Hi there

I have googled around and there have been many posts on this but I have not yet found one with a simple instruction on how to do what I want to do.

I would like to make a completely blank page. That’s it – simple – all white. No header, no menus, no footer.

I want this so I can then add one video and one image, and that’s all, and make it my splash/landing page.

To illustrate this more clearly, my splash page is currently at http://www.nadaav.com. There is a short video and a graphic. If you click the graphic it leads you to my wp site – http://www.nadaav.com/n

I’ve long had a problem getting that video to work on mobile devices, but since upgrading to WP 3.6.1 I saw it has a built in html5 player. I am hoping to recreate the page at http://www.nadaav.com in wordpress.

Can anyone advise me therefore how to make the blank page I need. I only need it for the splash page – the rest of my site will remain the same. And I assume that I only need a blank page as I will be able to put the video and graphic in from within wordpress’s page editor.

    Thanks kindly.

See creating a static front page. If necessary – and depending upon your theme – you may need to create a custom page template or a new front-page,php template file. Possibly via a child theme.

    Thank you Esmi.

Ah yes so it’s precisely that – how to code a custom page template that is completely blank that I am trying to work out.

I suppose the point is what is the minimum code required so a page shows as blank, aside from what I then put into it via WP page editor. (Not sure if that’s the write term, but the part of WP where you write posts and page content etc).

    thanks
