  • I’m uploading a few different 1000×288 pictures to use with the TwentyEleven theme. The images upload just fine and their quality remains intact. However, if you view the image on the theme itself, it’s blurred.

    Here is a comparison: view comparision

  • It would be great if this issue was addressed by the admins. It seems to be a technical issue on either twentyeleven styling or wordpress rendering in general

    It’s not a theme or WordPress issue. It’s a server one. Check that your hosts are running the latest version of GD Library.

    I’m using WAMP 2.2. It is enabled in my PHP.ini file. I’m assuming the latest WAMP package contains the updated GD Library.. Do you know if this is true?

    I am facing exactly the same issue. The header images that come with TwentyEleven look fine but when I upload my own image, ensuring that it fits the header size exactly, it is blurry. In Corel Draw it is fine and I then save it as a jpeg, but once on the site it becomes blurred and low quality. Can anybody help?
    Thank you

    sorry I forgot to note my site – it is

    I figured it out.. the img attribute is being modified by the style.css. It’s making the width 100%, which is somehow distorting the picture. I fixed it in my child theme by adding this to my style.css:

    #branding img {
    width: auto;

    Hi David
    Thanks very much for this. I added this code to my child theme style css and got a very clear header image BUT it also made the header shrink to about a third of the size of the old header so that there was a large white space on the right hand side of the header. When you say add to the style css do I need to add it in a certain place. My child style css has only the bare minimum, and I just added this code at the bottom of the document.
    The other thing is that I am using the TwentyEleven theme resize header plugin which may affect it?
    Thanks again for your help.
