I am starting a new site and am using twenty twelve theme. I want the parent page to show in the navigation bar, but I want the user to have to hover over the parent page in order to see the drop down menu of the child pages under it.

    Here’s the site: http://oahuhippies.classysites.com

I made the parent page as the events page, then all the workshops I thought would drop down but they don’t.

Do I need a different theme? A plugin? I really don’t want to take the time to mess with the code, it takes me forever and I just want to focus on the business. Any ideas?

As always I can’t thank you enough for your help. This forum is amazing and I truly appreciate any responses.

    Hi there.

If you create the menu in the admin (Appearance > Menus) and then assign it to your theme you can arrange child pages under their parents by just dragging them to the right under the parent page.

For more help you can refer to the WordPress Menu User Guide

Fantastic! I can assign this custom built menu to appear at the top of the page instead of the auto generated navigation? Thanks so much. I’ll read the user guide and I’m sure it will walk me through it. THANKS again!

Yup, you can use this custom menu instead of the one automatically generated. Glad to help!
