    Hello,

I am running an Ubuntu test server so I can’t give you a URL and I have finally got images uploading and displaying etc. I can run updates within wordpress so file permissions etc all seem to be working well.

My issue is, only when using the Twenty Twelve 1.1 theme my Admin Dashboard/Appearance menu only shows:

    Themes
    Widgets
    Menus
    Editor

I can load up any other theme and more Appearance options show-up according to the theme’s abilities.

From what I have read Twenty Twelve should at least have a ‘Header’ option? Should it not?

    How do I enable this?

Everything is a fresh install from this morning and fully updated according to the wordpress Dashboard.

I want to say it could be the version of WordPress you are using (3.3.1) and since the way that custom-header is called changed in 3.4+ it could be creating an error but I could be wrong.

For others with the same issue:

I have manually installed 3.5 as 3.3.1 said it was up to date and would not update from the Dashboard. I renamed my 3.3.1 ‘wordpress’ folder to ‘wordpress331’. I downloaded wordpress 3.5 and unzipped the ‘wordpress’ folder to the same directory as the former install resided (/usr/share/). From my old ‘wordpress’ folder, I copied the ‘wp-config.php’ link to the new ‘/usr/share/wordpress’ folder. I was then able to connect to the wordpress site through my browser as I did in the previously installed version. When I logged in, it ran an update to the database. I now have all of the Twenty Twelve Theme customization options available. I now see what all the excitement is about!

    Thank you Jose!

P.S. Another symptom of the problem was ‘Insufficient Permission’ errors when trying to use Dashboard theme-changing options on the Dashboard/home page.

    You are very welcome. 🙂

apologies in advance if this isn’t related, but I too am missing some options in my Admin. I’m using the twenty twelve theme, but should that even effect the admin? Anyway I have no “Privacy” section, which should be under “Settings” in the admin…. it’s an issue because the site is not showing up at all on Google… ( mean not at all)

here’s the site in case it helps; http://beoldfashioned.com/

    thanks!
