• Hi friends,

As English is the default language for Twenty Twelve, I decided to translate it into Spanish via Poedit. I leave the link:

    Hola amigos:

Como el idioma predeterminado (y único) para Twenty Twelve es el inglés, he decido hacer una traducción al español del mimso para quien le pueda servir. Os dejo el enlace:

Thanks! This might be useful for translating to other languages as well. One interesting notion related to that: Twenty Twelve seems to make use of translations not present in the theme /languages folder, probably over the network. For example, Twenty Twelve shows my site in Finnish, even though proper fi_FI.po and fi_FI.mo files are not present in the theme /languages folder.

At least, in Spanish you find the most of headings and elements like this translated into Spanish, but there is a lack of meta data translated into Spanish.

Yes you are right, the (Finnish) translations seem to come from the WordPress default localization files. These are found in the folder wp-content\languages\.

I may translate to Finnish based on the Spanish Twenty Twelve translation. I started by renaming the Spanish es_ES.mo and es.ES.po translation files to fi.po and fi.mo, which causes following results:
