Support » Themes and Templates » [Twenty Eleven Theme ] Creating a secondary blog page

  • Hi,

I’ working on a site and I would like to create a secondary page to display post from a specific category so it operates like the normal blog page with all it’s features.

I have duplicated the (index.php) page and turn that into a template (index-news.php) which I have set a created WordPress page to utilize.

I’ve also set the (index.php) page to exclude the content from the categories that will be displayed separately in the (index-news.php)

However on the (index-news.php) page which is displaying only the category I want displayed the content is being displayed differently, the read more link is not shown and the overall look is off despite being a duplicate.

Is their something in the Twenty Eleven Theme that is causing this or is it not possible to utilize the (index.php) as a template to display other categories that would operate like to the (index.php)

Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. It is the default WordPress 3.2 theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues.

Create a child theme for your customisations. Once your child theme is active, we should be able to help with the customisation.

I have created the child theme as suggested I’m open to any ideas as to how to do the customization.
