Kinda new at this stuff. I am using a Twenty Eleven child theme called NomNom for this site here [don’t judge it, it’s incomplete] I would like the container for all the content just below the nav bar to be semi-transparent. Just like this site is.

I have added “opacity: .5;” to a few places but all the content within goes translucent with it. I simply want the black to show through to the background a bit [about 60% opacity]

It seems that the header has a black background too because it is a translucent png and is darker because of this. So the header would hopefully have no black background allowing the header image to reveal the bg.

    Thanks so much!

  • Hi

I too am struggling with this. I have searched the forums and documentation but can’t find a solution that does what I need.

OBJECTIVE: To set the background colour of everything within the container to transparent or semi transparent / opaque (ie Header, content, footer) so that the PNG I am using as the page background ghosts through to create a static watermark.

I am using WP 3.2.1 with a modified twentyeleven child theme for the CSS. The site as it stands can be found ‘here’

It is still work in progress and I will experiment with font and nav hover colour once I have craked the transparency issue.

I am an html / css/ wp amateur so maybe making this harder than it needs to be but any help would be very much appreciated.

    Hi,
Looks like you have found a solution. Can you please help explain what you had to do differently ?

    Regards

I actually couldn’t figure it out. I just went with a different theme altogether. HTML & CSS are not my strong point
