Tweet being sent after updating a post

After making a change to a setting on most of the posts on my client’s blog, I noticed that his Twitter feed had gone crazy with updates saying that new blogs had been created. I thought this plugin would only send that message to Twitter for NEW posts – not old ones which are updated. Is there a problem with the plugin, my settings or something else? Any help is appreciated, thank you.
