What other plugins and theme do you use on the site?

    Dear @takayukister,

I use the WordPress Twenty Twenty theme.

    Plugins:

    Antispam for Contact Form 7

    Contact Form 7

    Duplicate Page

    Footer Putter

PRyC WP: Add custom content to post and page (top/bottom)

    Redirection for Contact Form 7

    Speed Optimizer (Siteground hosting)

    WP Mail SMTP

    Yoast SEO

Try deactivating all plugins excluding Contact Form 7, WP Mail SMTP and Yoast SEO, and clearing all cache data.

Why you are advised to deactivate plugins and switch to the default theme.

    @takayukister ,

I deactivated all plugins, even the Yoast SEO plugin. I cleared all cache data. It still gives me an error message. Both for the contact forms in CF7, and when I try to fill out the contact form on the website and hit ‘send’. So far no luck

It still gives me an error message.

Both for the contact forms in CF7, and when I try to fill out the contact form on the website and hit ‘send’.

Can you be more specific? What exact error message do you get?

    Thread Starter nick7773386

    (@nick7773386)

The message in the contact form is: ‘Onveilige e-mailconfiguratie wordt gebruikt zonder voldoende bescherming.‘ It’s in Dutch, but it translates to: Unsafe email config is used without sufficient protection.

The other message on the web page with the contact form is ‘Er is een fout opgetreden bij het versturen van het bericht; probeer het later nog eens.’ Translation: An error has ocurred while sending the message. Try again later.’

As for the first screenshot, you get that message because your email configuration allows spammers to abuse the contact form, and you don’t have sufficient spam protection in place. Set up Turnstile or avoid using form-tags in the To field.

The second screenshot shows an orange-bordered response message that means the submission has been blocked as spam. It has no particular connection with the configuration error in the admin screen.

    Thread Starter nick7773386

    (@nick7773386)

That’s the problem: Turnstile is active on my website. I have Turnstile on: ‘Turnstile is actief op deze site.’ Translation: Turnstile is active on this site.

Also the CF 7 antispam is on: ‘CF7-Antispam is active on this site.’

I have double spam protection, but it doesn’t seem to get rid of that message.

When I had ReCaptcha on, I didn’t get this message, just with Turnstile. But since you recommend Turnstile, I tried turning Turnstil on, but so far no luck.

Regarding the blocking of the submission: I use my own email address. I use a descriptive message. Not the words ‘test’ or just a short message, but an actual message that a lead might send. But so far no luck in getting rid of the error.

That’s why I came to you for help

Again, deactivate all plugins excluding Contact Form 7, WP Mail SMTP, and Yoast SEO. After that, set up Turnstile. If Turnstile is set up correctly, that config error does not appear.

    Thread Starter nick7773386

    (@nick7773386)

I deavtivated all plugins again, excluding Contact Form 7, WP Mail SMTP, and Yoast SEO. After that I set up Turnstile. Turnstile is set up correctly according to your documentation. It gives the notification: Turnstile is active on this site. The config error is still there. The form still gives an error if I try to send the contact form.

What can I do to resolve this?

    Plugin Author Takayuki Miyoshi

    (@takayukister)

OK. Ignore the config error in the admin screen for now. As stated in the FAQ, a config error message only warns risks; it doesn’t cause anything. You can ignore the message when you are sure you can manage the risks.

Let’s focus on the orange border response on the front end. Find out what is happening when you get the response.

    (@nick7773386)

I don’t know how to find out what is happening when I get the response

Also, I turned off Turnstile, and the AntiSpam for Contact Form 7 plugin, and even without any protection, I still get the orange box.

I downloaded Flamingo and saw that it came into my spam folder

    Thread Starter nick7773386

    (@nick7773386)

I just tried sending the form with a VPN active. I couldn’t send any message, even with the spam filter and Turnstile off.

When I turned the spam filter on, and the VPN, it was still working. So the spam filter is preventing me to send a message/contact form through my own IP, most likely because I’ve send a lot of contact forms to test them.

But now I still have the problem, that when I activate Turnstile, my contact form doesn’t send succesfully. I still get the error/orange border response. Even with the VPN turned on.

I got this reaction from Flamingo:

Spam log: reCAPTCHA reaction token is empty

I get the same if I try it with Turnstile:

“Spam log: Turnstile token is empty.”
