The maintenance page was on, and I could access the admin area.

I clicked to turn off maintenance mode.

The site now will not load at all. Admin or front end, just spins and spins.

Tried to remove plugin folder from server, no effect. It seems that perhaps the function didnt complete and left files written incorrectly.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Please double-check the site URL you provided. There’s either a typo in the domain name or there’s an issue with the DNS as the site can’t be reached.

This is the issue that i and referencing…
https://www.neighborbuild.ca is the correct website. However, since I changed my page from ON to OFF with this plugin, the site does not resolve. Doing DNS, A record, etc lookup all resolve correctly.
The only action taken since it working, to not working was that simple change in with this plugin. Perhaps it timedout and didnt complete, leaving the site in a limbo state, hence it not erroring, just spinning and spinning.

Can you advise when deactivating maintenance mode, does it change any file or conditions in the site? ideally I can revert everything manually to the point where its as if the plugin was not installed. I already tried to just delete the plugin files to no avail. My thought is that the plugin adds a ‘maintenance file’ or redirect line to some other file like htaccess or something.

Unfortunately, I can’t access the site to check and it seems it’s not just me https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/neighborbuild.ca?proto=https&www=1

The plugin does not modify or create any files. Once it’s deactivated or deleted it can’t affect the site anymore. The only thing that can make it appear as if it’s still active is cache. So make sure all cache is clear, in WP, on the host, and on DNS level if you’re using something like Cloudflare.

Can you please advise how the plugin redirects traffic? Does it add a DB record? lines to htaccess? etc>

I am trying to wipe the plugin, settings, and everything about it so that I can at least rule it out as the cause. Up to this point, as I mentioned, turning off maintenance mode is the pivotal point where this site has been having database connection issues and others since. No one can access it, and using this plugin is the moment that has started to happen.

I recognize that the site is down at the moment, ever since turning off the maintenance mode, it will crash the server if anyone tries to visit, hence putting up a empty page.
