I have this option un-clicked in WF, but I still receive emails telling me that plugins need to be updated:
“Updates Needed (Plugin, Theme, or Core)”
Not sure what else I need to do to keep from getting those alerts. Seems to have become a problem since this latest WF update.

  • Try this.. Hope you can follow because IMHO this new WF 7 is confusing to set up.

From Dashboard / Wordfence – Global Options – Alert Preferences –
Unckeck the Alert on warnings option.

I can see that option, but wouldn’t that remove all warnings, not just warnings to update plugins, etc.? Seems odd that the one under Global Options > Dashboard Options doesn’t work.

    Hi @jess888
Could you please make sure that you have updated Wordfence to the latest version 7.0.2? also, double check that “Scan for out of date, abandoned, and vulnerable plugins, themes, and WordPress versions” option is deactivated, then run a new scan.

Let me know how it goes,
    Thanks.

    Hi there ~

Where is “Scan for out of date, abandoned, and vulnerable plugins, themes, and WordPress versions”?

I only see “Updates Needed (Plugin, Theme, or Core)”

I am using 7.0.2, yes. Thanks.

    Hi,
It’s right there (Wordfence > Scan > Scan Options and Scheduling > General Options > Scan for out of date, abandoned, and vulnerable plugins, themes, and WordPress versions).

Please share a screenshot showing the other option you mean.

    Thanks.

I do want it to scan for out of date plugins, etc., I just don’t want to receive alerts for that. Worked fine before this last WF update.

Here is the screenshot – you can see under Dashboard Options that it says Updates Needed (Plugin, Theme, or Core):

I have all my sites updated to 7.0.5 and am still having the issue. It looks like the ability to turn off email alerts for updates for Plugins, Themes, etc. has been removed; they are batched with other warnings. You used to be able to get warnings and be able to turn off the update plugin warnings. It would be great to have that ability again, especially for those of us with many websites. Thanks!

    Hi @jess888
Thanks, I’ve logged this suggestion into our feature request list and I just want to confirm that you have two options for now if you want to stop receiving these email notifications:
    1. Disable this scan option: “Scan for out of date, abandoned, and vulnerable plugins, themes, and WordPress versions”
    or
    2. You can disable “Alert on warnings”.

    Thanks.
