• Hello there

I’m editing twenty twenty themes. The theme has been updated.

How can I turn off updates for this theme? (except automatic update)

  • You really should have made your updates in a Child Theme or else created a new theme based on Twenty Twenty…

I’d recommend the Child Theme approach where you’ll receive the updates to the parent theme and your own changes will reside in the child.

I use the child theme configurator plugin to create the child itself to save a bit of work and arrive at a working child theme which I then activate and modify to suit my needs.

Right now, while it’s fresh on your mind is a good time to create that child theme and copy over your changed files.

I don’t want to use a child theme. I developed the Twenty twenty theme a lot. So I don’t want updates

Rename your altered theme in the comment header of style.css. Change the theme’s folder name to match. Reactivate your theme in the back end. You can then reinstall an unaltered twentytwenty which can be useful for debugging purposes down the road.

Yours is essentially then a new theme based on twentytwenty like JNash suggested.

    Thank you.

I changed style.css. I forgot to change the file name. @bcworkz
