Turn off Page Title / Widgets Top Area

  • Hello, i try to desable the pagetitles, ┬┤cause i have different descriptions an permalinks.

    The wp workaround doesnt work:
    <title><?php bloginfo('name'); ?> <?php wp_title("",true); ?></title>

    Also deleting this doesnt work:

    					<h1 id="site-title"><a>" title="<?php echo esc_attr( get_bloginfo( 'name', 'display' ) ); ?>" rel="home"><?php bloginfo( 'name' ); ?></a></h1>
    					<?php if ( gridiculous_theme_options( 'tagline' ) ) { ?><h2 id="site-description"><?php bloginfo( 'description' ); ?></h2><?php } ?>

    [Moderator Note: Please post code or markup snippets between backticks or use the code button. As it stands, your code may now have been permanently damaged/corrupted by the forum’s parser.]

    What can i do?

    A second problem is to edit/customize the threw widgets.
    The layout at this point is enabled.
    But i cant find a note to edit.

    Does it only work in the pro version?

    thx a lot!

    from germany

    The page titles are controlled by this code in functions.php:

    add_filter( 'wp_title', 'gridiculous_filter_wp_title' );
    if ( !function_exists( 'gridiculous_filter_wp_title' ) ) :
     * Filters the page title appropriately depending on the current page
     * @uses	get_bloginfo()
     * @uses	is_home()
     * @uses	is_front_page()
     * @since Gridiculous 1.0.1
    function gridiculous_filter_wp_title( $title ) {
    	global $page, $paged;
    	$site_description = get_bloginfo( 'description' );
    	$filtered_title = $title . get_bloginfo( 'name' );
    	$filtered_title .= ( ! empty( $site_description ) && ( is_home() || is_front_page() ) ) ? ' | ' . $site_description: '';
    	$filtered_title .= ( 2 <= $paged || 2 <= $page ) ? ' | ' . sprintf( __( 'Page %s', 'gridiculous' ), max( $paged, $page ) ) : '';
    	return $filtered_title;
    endif; // gridiculous_filter_wp_title

    You can comment out the add_filter() line to stop it from working.

    The three front page widgets are just text widgets that are added to the home page top widgetized area. Add your own with your own HTML to replace them.

    I’ve created a child theme so that I can edit this theme for my site. I’d like to remove the default h1 tagged text at the top of pages so they don’t appear on my site. Is there a way of doing this in a child theme? I tried loading the function.php file into my child theme directory and tried what you suggested in the response above but it didn’t work.
