Hi Phil,
If you want to track contact form submissions you need to create tags:
#1 Using the Google/Universal Analytics tag you should create an Analytics event tag and associate the rules you have already created.
#2 Using AdWords conversion tags with the same rules you can fire AdWords conversions as well
To do this open your Tag Manager container and press the red “New” button and select “Tag” from the menu. From the Tag Type drop down you can select the necessary tag and enter your parameters.
Do not forget to create a new version of the container and publish it.
Is this enough to do the steps?
Cheers,
Thomas Geiger
Hi Thomas,
I’ve already done these steps. I’m trying to see if I did it right and if it’s working.

Thomas,
I was able to get conversion tracking for both Analytics and Adwords to work for the form on the site that was created with the Contact 7 plugin. Unfortunately, there are 3 other forms on the site created with a plugin called “nForms” that I have been unable to get the conversion tracking to work. Can you provide me some guidance on how to do this? Maybe just rule to replace the “{{event}} equals “gtm4wp.contactForm7Submitted” that is working for the Contact 7 form? Your help is greatly appreciated. I’d appreciate your reply even if you don’t know what to do in this instance–I’m stuck.
Thanks,
Phil
Thomas, can you help me on this?
I tried both the {{event}} equals gtm4wp.formElementLeave from the plugn settings and {{event}} equals gtm.formSubmit from the General Google Autotracking, but neither works.
I feel like I’m very close to getting my conversion tracking working again. Your help would really be appreciated.
Phil
Hi Phil,
Thank you for your patience and sorry for the delayed answer.
nForms is a paid plugin so I do not have access to it but I found a demo site where I was able to check the admin screen.
In this I have seen an option to enter a redirect URL for successful form submission. Use this to show a thank you page for the visitors.
Using this you could create a conversion tag with a rule that fires only on this redirect URL.
Cheers,
Thomas
Thanks for your help, Thomas. I’ll give that a try. -Phil
Hi Phil,
Is your setup with nForms working now as expected?
If yes, would you be so kind and close this topic as resolved?
Thanks,
Thomas Geiger
Thomas, it’s partially fixed for me. One of my forms is for a PDF download–which takes up the redirect URL possibility. So it’s not a perfect solution. Is it not possible to track events? But I’ll mark it resolved for you. Thanks for your help.
