Trying to create a duplicate site and keep the existing one

    Hello,

    Hello, I have a WordPress site (just a home page plus 8 empty pages) – now at piksel-dev.com (forwards to group.piksel.com.

    All I “simply” want is to create 8 copies of this site, in 8 separate directories, with 8 separate subdomains of piksel-dev.com – with separate databases, separate admin – totally independent of each other. Later we will assign new sub-domains to each one.

    I just want to learn how to do the first one, then I can apply to the rest.

    PLEASE – I WILL BE GRATEFUL – if someone can explain the process to me – as nothing I’ve tried is working. With either “No content found”, or incomplete pages, or forwarding back to the system URL/root directory, I have been unsuccessful.

    Site is hosted by 1and1, and if I can understand how to make ONE directory work, such as “group”, then I can apply to the others.

    This is what I’ve tried so far:

    I reserved piksel-dev.com and created 7 separate sub-domains, and pointed each to the appropriate directories, including “groups”, which is the one I’m concentrating on right now.

    1. I copied all files from my working WP site into the directory named “group”.
    2. The wp-config.php in “group” is connected to the unique database I created for this site.
    3. I exported the database from the working site, and imported it into the “group” DB.
    4. In the 1and1 control panel / mySQL / phpMyAdmin / wp-options / I edited both the home and site urls to group.piksel-dev.com.
    5. I set group.piksel-dev.com web space to point to “group” in 1and1’s control panel.

    Now when I try to point my browser to group.piksel-dev.com, I should be seeing the site – shouldn’t I? Instead, I see an incomplete page without the correct font, and no main image; as my browser forwards to the root directory. When I point my Chrome browser to piksel-dev.com, the page looks perfect; the address at the top appears to be http://group.piksel-dev.com/. When I try using Firefox, the page is incomplete, and appears to forward to the system url/root.
