• I have a website on wordpress, at first it was on a friends server, but he switched it so its on bluehost. The website URL is an IP address with a slash and a name. However, I registered a domain name at godaddy. I was able to change the nameservers so that the URL of the index page of my website was changed to the domain name, however, when I click onto any other page from that page, it goes back to the IP address URL.
    What can I do?

    Thanks.

  • Make sure that your WordPress URL and Blog URL are set to the domain name. These can be checked in your dashboard in the Settings > General area. If you are not able to access your dashboard, try using PHPMyAdmin to make the changes.

If that doesn’t work, try a search and replace plugin to look for the old URL and replace it with the new one.

I tried changing those one time, and everything got messed up.
I was no longer able to log into WordPress, and the CSS of my website would change in strange ways. I had to log into PHPMyAdmin to change the files to direct back to the old site.
I’ve seen many other people get that error to, and have seen several threads about it.

My problem is, im not just trying to change the main index page. Thats already changed. Im trying to change all of the other pages. It doesn’t seem like WordPress should be able to do this because the server is now on bluehost and the domain name is registered with godaddy.

Any other solutions? Or do you back up your previous suggestion?

You have to log in to PHPMyAdmin and make changes to the posts and options database tables. Here’s a walkthrough: http://www.newnine.com/blog/112-move-wordpress-to-new-server
