Trying to add a new template for a static page

    Clueless newbie running 2.7

    Want a couple static pages on the site so trying to create a general template that does not have The Loop.

    I created static.php but cannot get WordPress to ‘see’ it.

    Where does it go — in the theme folder? In the WP root?
