Trying something tricky with CSS and Sliders

I’m looking to setup a way of setting up site so that the slider controls the header color of my website, and was looking for some simple advice for accomplishing this. So far I’m looking at some how using jQuery.

I’m open to any plugins or sliders that any of you are willing to suggest. But basically here is what I’m trying to do.
