Hey everyone. Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but I’m a total noob here just looking for a little help.

I’m in the IT field and have an old server here that I use for various reasons. Recently, I’ve decided to host a website with it for grins and experience since I have a domain already. I spun up my site on server 2012 with IIS 8.5, and everything has been going great.

A few days ago, I received my first alert to update a plugin with FTP. No problem. Added FTP to my site, opened ports, tested login and transfer with FileZilla, everything looked good.

So I go to update my plugin, and everything seems right. I enter FTP information, the upgrade starts, I see the live session on the server logs, and then the FTP transfer completes, and WordPress tells me to be patient as the plugin upgrades. It stops there though. The page never changes after that, no error is given, FTP and CPU activity stops, and if I refresh there and go back to the admin panel, I’m told that the update was unsuccessful and to try again, which brings me back to the FTP login and the cycle repeats.

I have this wild idea that it has to do with the FTP home directory, but hoping for some advice from seasoned users (login goes to site root while WP is in /blog). I’ve waited over an hour, don’t think it should take even that long. Am I mistaken?
