• My template and everything was fine, and then I upgraded to WP 3.9 and everything went kerflooey. My once beautiful site became a mass of code. So I tried to downgrade to 3.8.3 which had been fine with my template but now all I have on my site is a blank page with this message: “Fatal error: Call to undefined function force_ssl_admin() in /home/content/34/12020934/html/wp-login.php on line 15.” I have the same thing showing when I go to my Wp-login page…I just get a blank screen with that message. I’m totally lost now how to fix it. I’m grateful for any help.

  • Try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and the wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

Thank you so much! That helped HUGE. I followed your steps and at first still had the same error, but then I took another look at my “wp-config.php” file and uploaded a fresh version. Then I was back in business. So even though it was telling me there was an error with a specific file, fixing the “wp-config” file resolved that. Re-uploaded my theme and then turned my plugins back on and my site was back up as it should be. Thanks again.
