• I’m trying to change the look and feel of my blog (www.raynchk.com/weblog). I’ve downloaded Alex King’s Style Switcher but I can’t make it work.
I had to create the directories; wp-content/plugins/ and when I go to the admin area, I can’t find anything about plugins. Here’s the specific instruction:

Click on ‘Plugins’ in the admin area, then ‘Activate’ next to the WP Style Switcher row

    .
I think I’ve got everything installed correctly and I’ve changed permissions.
Also, none of the smilies buttons show up.
    I’m using mac osx 10.2.3

  • Plugins are new in version 1.2, are you running version 1.2?

WordPress 1.1 was installed by a ‘Fantastico’ script on my site, then I uploaded 1.2. Maybe I didn’t upgrade correctly.

    Correction.. I’ve installed 1.0.2

Can someone clear things up for me?
Is 1.2 a new release? I can only find 1.0.2 on sourceforge.
There’s nothing on the WordPress site (that I can find) saying what the latest version or stable release is.
Also when I download a nightly build, I can’t find any release infor there either.

That is the lastest “stable” release. 1.2 will be out soon as it is fairly stable (actually pretty darn stable if you ask me).

I downloaded the latest nightly build and it seems to be working pretty well. I hosed my database, but I only lost a couple of posts so I’m not worried, next time I’ll back it up. I was able to import everything w/o problems and even got the style switcher working! Of course since I’m using Mac, the styles vary from Mozilla, to Firefox to Safari. Now I just need to get a good photo weblog up and running…
