I finally took the advice in the Adespresso facebook group and just switched over from firing the pixel on my site by inserting it on the pages in a clunky manual plugin to using your Amazing plugin! I can’t believe how easy and fun it was to set up. Really a true pleasure to use

However, I am now having one major problem, it is reporting hundreds of dollars in purchases that haven’t been made. (one campaign reported $340 in a few minutes but the actual amount was probably less than $10 if anything at all)

When I go to to diagnostics in Facebook I see 2 errors:
    1. Redundant Purchase events: Your pixel is sending purchase events on pages that don’t feature purchases. This is resulting in over-reporting of purchases. (…full details in screenshot https://goo.gl/ZBgTVK) CSV of reported links is here
    2. Invalid Event Value Parameters:
One or more of your “AddToCart” events have invalid event value parameters.(…full details in screenshot https://goo.gl/ZBgTVK) CSV of report is here

Screenrecording with Pixel Helper and Console:
Here is a video of me going through the entire checkout with pixel helper and the console open. I don’t really know what to look for but everything looks good to my amateur eyes and the dollar amount is correct so I am not sure what is going wrong. I have been trying to contact Facebook to see if it is on their end but all my contacts seem to have run dry!

The only error that shows up in red (I think) is related to a checkbox that is intentionally hidden on the checkout form

I don’t have an adblocker, I confirmed that it is the same pixel id, debug mode is not on. Unfortunately I wont be able to make a test purchase with each of my plugins turned on or off, (I’d sooner go back to the old method of installing the pixel manually if that is the only way to fix this)

I am using Pixel caffeine version 2.0.2
I am using WordPress version 4.9.4
    I am using woocommerce 3.2.6

Thanks so very much in advance!

    Hi,

firstly really thank you for the full explaining screen recording, really helpful!

Unfortunately, I don’t see any error, everything seems work very well on your website and I didn’t see any duplicated Purchase event or something else. The only thing I can think is: maybe there are some other places where there is the same pixel ID and some purchase events are fired from there? Maybe another website? Maybe some stage environments of your website? Or maybe do you have some local installation of the website where there is the same Pixel ID activated and tracking? Could you make sure for this?

Also, try to discover in your facebook admin some more information about the duplicated purchase events fired. Try to discover if there is tracked the URL where they came from.

    Let me know.

Confusing, but reassuring that you don’t see anything wrong. I have a call booked with someone from Facebook tomorrow I will see if they have any ideas. I’ll follow up here if I find anything more from them or a url in the admin. Thank you!

    Reporting is correct now!
I changed a few settings, including adding ‘don’t track value’ to all events except for purchase (https://goo.gl/PbYpdS) I guess this is what I did that made it work as the purchase value tracking is now correct in Facebook’s reporting.

I wonder, does this mean that now it won’t track the amount of ‘add to carts’ or ‘view content’ etc or is the ‘value’ strictly for currency transactions?

    Hi,

this is really strange and difficult to understand without managing it. It might be some tests that maybe you did for purchase before to go live or maybe something related to the campaigns created by AdEspresso (I’d suggest reading this: https://adespresso.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/235799547-What-is-the-difference-between-TOTAL-and-MAIN-revenue-).

Anyway, if you confirm that your fix is removing “value” parameter to all events except “purchase” one, you can keep in this way. It won’t cause any problem with amount tracking. Probably, you just won’t have the ability to create custom audience by filtering for “value” for all other events, but it’s a little thing and I think it won’t cause any limitation 🙂

Let me know if I can help you with something, I’d mark this topic as resolved for Pixel Caffeine perspective.
