 * Hi, I’m having trouble with getting my **Google Maps API key** to work with your
   plugin on a client’s site as a test, BUT, it does work on my own site.
 * Here’s a screenshot – [https://snag.gy/Pz947I.jpg](https://snag.gy/Pz947I.jpg)-
   with map image “for development purposes only”. There’s a Google error on the
   backend in WP>Pages as well “This page can’t load Google Maps correctly”.. I
   can’t view the map there.
 * I’ve researched a bit and see there can be conflicts with WordPress that cause
   an API key not to work. The developer thinks there’s an issue with my key due
   to the recent Google policy to require a billing credit card for this API, but
   I’ve gone through the steps to address this – and as I mentioned my API does
   work with your plugin when tested on my own site.
 * Would you be able to provide some WP theme/plugin conflict resolution steps for
   us? I can provide my API key too if needed to test.
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Ftrouble-with-maps-api%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

 * Hi, we never got a reply on this after nearly two weeks… Can you help provide
   some steps to resolve API issues using your plugin? My API works fine using your
   plugin on other sites. The site is [https://mogreatdane.com](https://mogreatdane.com).
 * Thank you in advance!!!

 * [@nholman](https://wordpress.org/support/users/nholman/) You likely need to add
   your client’s website URL to the URLs allowed to use the API key in Google’s
   API key console.

 * I don’t believe that’s the case with the new Google API console, [https://snag.gy/t4jVws.jpg](https://snag.gy/t4jVws.jpg).
 * I am able to use the API with your plugin installed on two other sites. I think
   what’s causing a conflict is something to do with their theme or plugin setup.
   Do you have steps available to resolve?
 * thank you

 * [@nholman](https://wordpress.org/support/users/nholman/) — This is currently
   our best explanation of the Maps API generation process (though the Google Console
   has updated a bit since this video):
    [https://wordimpress.com/documentation/maps-builder-pro/creating-maps-api-key/](https://wordimpress.com/documentation/maps-builder-pro/creating-maps-api-key/)
 * Other than that, if you truly think it’s a plugin/theme conflict I’d suggest
   using the Health Check plugin to troubleshoot that. It will allow you to deactivate
   all plugins and put your site on a default theme ONLY for yourself — your live
   visitors will not see that. We have a write-up on that here:
    [https://givewp.com/documentation/resources/troubleshoot-wordpress-websites-health-check/](https://givewp.com/documentation/resources/troubleshoot-wordpress-websites-health-check/)
 * Then you can enable plugins one at a time and test again until you see the problem
   again. Then let me know which plugin caused the conflict and I can take a closer
   look at replicating the issue for you.
 * Thanks!
