i have a problem when i try to upgrade the version of wordpress. I do the install process step by step, but when i go to the http://www.radians.com.ar/blog/wp-admin/upgrade.php site the page is blank, and of course any part of the blog works.

So, i have to make a roll back again to version 2.2.1

Could you help me? any ideas?

    Thanks in advance, Robert.

All I can say is try again. The upgrade works ok for most.

Make sure you disable all plugins when doing the upgrade or install.

yes i try three times, and the result is the same. All plugings was desactivated.

I other blog the update works fine, but the original version of wordpress was earlier.

    From moshu:
“Doing a search for “blank upgrade.php” and similar keywords would reveal
    – most of the cases are/were about corrupt files, so try to upload a fresh package of WP
    – unactivated plugins (before starting the upgrade)
    – bad themes
    etc.

    I’d start with re-uploading everything from a new download/unzip.”

    From hugoboss:
“I changed the maximum script execution time on my server and the maximum HTTP POST size. I am not sure if these are correct parameters to change, but I got it working upgrade went smooth!”

There seem to be several different solutions including theme incompatibility. Do a search and see what you come up with.

i do what you said, but the result is the same.
i deactivate all plugins and select the default theme, y do the upgrade process, but the upgrade.php still blank.

So, i must to do a new roll back to 2.2.1…. πŸ™

People were trying to help you, but you were not helping them.

They need more information. Nobody can do this for you, you have to try different things and provide feedback on what happens.

Work with the people here, they can help you. But simply saying “it doesn’t work” over and over doesn’t accomplish anything.

Also, rolling back does not help. You upgrade and then you FIX the problem. Rolling back won’t get anything done.

I just upgraded to WP 2.5 and K2. I cannot even login to admin.
    I get this message
Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_register_sidebar_widget() in /home/mikekell/public_html/wp-admin/includes/dashboard.php on line 31
I amsure its the K2 sidebar causing the problem.I was able to login until I activated sidebar plugin
I even deleted it on the server but still cant login

    Any help really appreciated dudes

Check that all the files in the wp-includes directory are there and unaltered.

Don’t use any “sidebar” plugins. Or K2, unless you upgrade it to a compatible version. I would avoid K2 in general, it seems like it breaks every upgrade. Very complex theme, hard to use.

Otto42, don’t get angry. i said all thing thats occurs over my blog. The error was always the same, what else do you want that i write????

    radians:
I’m just saying that you’re never going to solve the problem with this limited information. Okay, so the upgrade.php is blank. That does not help us. You have to try other things.

If you have to keep the site online at all costs, then guess what, don’t upgrade it. Make a backup of the site and try to upgrade that. Do something else. Find somebody who can do it and get them to do it for you if necessary. Or whatever, my point is that the cycle of upgrade-doesn’t work-rollback is pointless and futile. Doing the same thing repeatedly when you know it does not work is the definition of insanity.

This forum is a support forum, we can only help those who help themselves. If you’re just a user, if you have no technical knowledge at all, if you cannot try something else and give us feedback on the results, then we cannot help you. All we can do is make suggestions, but there’s nothing for us to make a suggestion on here.

Try the wp-pro mailing list. Maybe somebody there can do it for you.

Otto the problem is that really i dont know so much about programming, and i try to do the thing that the people that i think know about it say me.

i must do a roll back everytime it doesnt work, if you are upset directly dont answer me, its thats simple!!!

i got no more thing to say because anything happends, what do you want to hear?????

its simple i do the process and it get a blank page, when i put the upgrade.php link it redirect to the url: http://www.radians.com.ar/blog/wp-admin/upgrade.php?_wp_http_referer=%2Fblog%2Fwp-admin%2F

So anybody who wants help me (not even otto that he get in bad mud) thanks in advance, from a silly user of wordpress…

    thanks to all.
