Trouble inserting banner / positioning sidebar with theme
Hey folks, I’m having some massive trouble with a theme I’m trying to customize and if anybody out ther can help me, I’d be eternally grateful! I searched around here looking for a similar problem with this theme, but came up empty handed.
First off, I am using the White Onion theme. I have it installed in its pure form over on Netbxu if you would like to go see the code fresh off the author’s site and in action. As you can see, there really isn’t a banner, per se, but instead a green box on top of the navbar that acts as a banner.
Now, on my other site Sports Gear 4 Free I installed the theme again, except this time, I edited the header.php file to comment out the green banner. I then went and made a simple test banner and inserted it in place.
Here’s the problem. At my resolution (1280*1024), it looks fine and perfect. But as soon as you start decreasing the resolution, the theme looks bad. In FF, as you decrease the resolution, the posts and main text start creeping in to the right while the sidebar remains fixed on the right of the screen with a wide blank space. Even the banner itself moves slightly to the left and leaves a wide fixed blank space on the left of the screen.
In IE, however, the opposite occurs – the main text and even the banner remains centered and look fine, but it’s the sidebar that starts creeping in to the left this time and looks stupid.
I’ll be the first to admit I don’t understand this and that I can’t solve this problem on my own. If anybody out there has had previous experience with this theme or had a similar problem, I’d greatly appreciate any help you could give me!
