Support » Fixing WordPress » Trouble displaying comment box

  • My page currently doesn’t have a page.php, comments.php or single.php page. I attempted to use default wordpress php’s but had no success.

    Currently under /wp-content/themes/MY_THEME
    the only folders showing are: config, footer, functions, header, index, and the style.css.

    If I’m needing any additional .php’s (which I’m 99.9% sure I do), can my site simply use default wordpress files?

    you can view the site @ offshorepatriots[.]com
    Currently running WP 2.9.1
    Updating to current version causes errors >.<

  • No, you can’t simply add files written for other themes to your own and expect them to work. Contact the person who designed your theme for the additional functionality you desire.

    Yes, I know I can’t use the default code verbatim. I simply used the default code and modified it slightly to fit my current theme. Unfortunately I’m not aware of the required filenames to enable comments on wordpress. If you can help me out there I’d appreciate it.

    Do you have below template tags in your index.php? If no, please add:
    <?php comments_template(); ?>

    I think it’s not a good idea. You should at least have single.php, if not the theme will use index.php as your single.php.
