  • My goal on this site was to have a certain background on my homepage (Just a splash page now so not viewable) and have a white background for every other page. This is what I placed in the css to attempt to change every page except home page to white by gathering all page ids:

    .page-id-445, .page-id-351, .page-id-350, .page-id-353, .page-id-12, .page-id-14, .page-id-693, .page-id-506, .page-id-368, .page-id-38, .page-id-340, .page-id-341, .page-id-343, page-id-38, .post-id-782{
    background:url(wp-content/uploads/2012/10/white.jpg) no-repeat center top fixed #fff;
    color: #111111;
    font-family: “HelveticaNeue-Light”, “Helvetica Neue Light”, “Helvetica Neue”, Helvetica, Arial, “Lucida Grande”, sans-serif;
    However, the page-id for the link below and other category pages, cart pages did not change the background from the global background. The theme had it’s own background manager and required a background image. I just wish to override this for all pages except the home page. Any help here would be much appreciated!

    this is the body tag from the first link:
    <body class="single single-product postid-368 theme-theme1513 woocommerce woocommerce-page">
    this from the second link:
    <body class="page page-id-445 page-template-default theme-theme1513">

    both linked web pages have a white background.

    when dealing with formatting problems, try working with a browser inspection tool such as Firebug to fins out which styles are responsible for formatting which elements.

    thank you. i used firebug to find the proper page id. The issue was that the pages I couldn’t change were posts, not pages. THANK!!
