Trouble adding video
-
My website is http://www.drinkspodcast.com. I have included a couple of videos in previous posts by simply typing in the Vimeo link and they just appeared in the post and played fine.
Now, each time I type in the vimeo link, that’s what appears on screen. The previous vidoes are still visible and fine but the new ones are just link text.
Can anyone help me include videos in my new posts, please?

You can embed from Vimeo by simply embedding the link. Review:
http://codex.wordpress.org/EmbedsHowever, if you have problems, please post a link to the post where you have problems with the video link.
To clarify – what appears on screen is just the text of the link, not the video (see “Discover Blaufrankisch …” post – second along). I’ve tried “Add Media / Insert from URL” but that does the same, only it’s a link, not a video and I’ve tried putting in the embed code from Vimeo but, again, all I get is text.
I can’t upload to the server because the maximum file-size is 8Mb and my videos are in the hundreds of Mb in size.Yup, @krishna or Krishna (I don’t know how to bring this to your attention), that’s exactly what I’m doing. The link is on its own line as defined in the codex. When you go to http://www.drinkspodcast.com and look at the second post “Discover Blaufrankish with Jancis Robinson”, under “Occasionally, we get to create videos of our adventures. Hereβs the latest:” do you see video or a really dark line of text of the Vimeo link?
OK – Krishna failed to help – anyone else got any ideas?
It’s been only 21 minutes since you’ve posted to these free 100% staffed by volunteer support forums. If you need more support than that consider hiring someone.
In the meanwhile how far did you get reading that link Krishna provided?

Have you tried wrapping the Vimeo URL in
[embed]...[/embed]?Sorry – only he replied so fast I thought he might stick around. My apologies to everyone concerned.
I tried the [Embed] … [/embed] and what is then displayed is the text of the link as a hyperlink to the video and the words [/embed] in the same highlighted colour.Jan – what do you see when you go to the site?
This is the code you posted at your post:
<p> <span style="color: #333333;"> <code> </code> <a href="http://vimeo.com/79473933[/embed">http://vimeo.com/79473933</a> </span> <code> <a>[/embed</a> ] </code> </p> <p> </p>Delete that and try posting as Jan suggested above:
[embed]http://vimeo.com/79473933[/embed]If that does not work, try posting only this:
http://vimeo.com/79473933Honestly – I really did only write http://vimeo.com/79473933 I’ve no idea where all that other stuff came from.
OK – I switched to text editor and removed all that other stuff. Now, all I get is the text of the link as before.
I’m sorry I was rude, I see that I misunderstood the way this works. I’m genuinely sorry I offended you all.
The thing is that the video embed does not work and I would really like to make it work so I’m hoping someone can help me do that.
Please can someone advise me on how to make this work.
JohnnyGreen-Shoot – Please stop posting multiple times. It’s really annoying and hard for anyone to help you (and uninspiring to make anyone WANT to help you because you’re behaving in a very impatient way). The forum is staffed by volunteers. If we can’t help you fast enough, hire someone.
Can you revert to Twenty Thirteen theme and try posting only the video link and see if it works (it works for me)? If it works, the problem is with your theme. Where did you download it from?
Krishna, I nearly cried with relief when I saw your reply – I thought I’d been dumped π
So, I have tried Twenty Ten, Twenty Twelve, Twenty Thirteen and, just for fun, Twenty Fourteen but it’s all the same – text only.
The Theme I was using is called “Visual” and it’s one of the themes available through WP’s standard “Select A Theme” link.
Did it work for you with THAT video (I’m wondering whether the video is the problem – maybe to big or to high bit-rate or something)?
