Hello,
I just tested and I am able to assign a sidebar to pages that are built in the block editor. Make sure that you’re selecting the correct sidebar so that your widgets are shown.
Can you post a link to this page so that I can take a look?
-Kevin
My site is in “coming soon mode”, would you be able to view the page if I gave the link or not?
I’m not sure why it won’t load. On the editing page, I am able to select, under sidebar options – display sidebar? – yes. Then I select the sidebar I’d like to display under choose sidebar. The problem is with saving those changes. It just doesn’t go through.
Previously, before the block editor, I was able to put a sidebar on without problem.
There have been some issues with plugin conflicts preventing pages from properly saving.
Try installing and activating the Gutenberg plugin to see if the page saves correctly.
-Kevin
Yes, that is the issue, the page isn’t saving properly.
I tried what you suggested. Deleted Gutenberg, then installed and activated it again.
Still giving me the same problem. When I select yes in display sidebar, then update the page, there is a green bar at the top that says “page updated” and a link to view page. But the buttons at the top for updating are still greyed out and says “saving”. If I click the link “view page”, the page loads and the sidebar is not there.
Thanks for your help.
What plugins do you have running on your site? I’ll try to recreate.

Also, when I want to preview a post or a page, a new tab opens up with a “generating preview” but it never finishes loading.
There is an issue with Page Builder by SiteOrigin and Gutenberg and being able to save meta data. That is resolved with the latest version of Gutenberg so to fix just install the Gutenberg plugin and you should see things working.

Thanks Ben, Kevin suggested earlier today to re-install the Gutenberg plugin. I did that just a few hours ago. Should I reinstall it again? Should I reinstall the page builder plugin?
I have been trying to work on blog posts, pages, using the block editor and it is very slow going. It is an unworkable situation as it is right now. It will be “saving” indefinitely and I can’t work on other parts of the page.
Just an update. I tried a couple of things.
I deleted both Page builder and Gutenberg, then reinstalled Gutenberg but did not reinstall page builder. I did a couple test pages, and I was able to put a sidebar on and load the preview of the page. Seems to be working appropriately.
Is there a consequence of not having the page builder plugin?
You will just not be able to use the plugin to add content to your pages or posts. if you weren’t using it before, you shouldn’t notice any difference.
