Trouble activating any plugins on my WordPress

It’s a fresh install of 3.9.2. I’m using Vantage theme. I’m just trying to add a calendar plugin, nothing major, everytime I install and activate one (I’ve tried 4 or 5 and this also happened with paypal button lite) I get Internal Server 500 errors until I delete the active plugin folder over FTP. Thanks in advance
