• Hello there,

I started using the plugin a few days ago, and in desktop it seems to be working fine. However, in mobile the video requires 3 clicks to play. In the settings I’ve set to ‘yes’ on having the thumbnails cached locally to improve performance.

You may click the video I added on my website on mobile: https://mayangateway.com/

Would you please let me know if there is anything I should do to avoid this? I’ve read another topic where an user needed two clicks, but I think having to click it three times is not good for user experience.

Thank you in advance for your support

I tested and I only had to click twice, not 3 times, but try disabling “cache thumbnails locally”, that _should_ result in only one click needed?

Thank you for your speedy reply and for testing!

I’m testing on an iphone on safari, and it requires three clicks. I’ve also tested on a samsung, and there it only requires two clicks. Also, if you have the chance to open the website on safari in Macbook, you will see that it also requires two clicks.

Yes, when I disable ‘cache thumbnails locally’, it results in only one click indeed (except in Safari of Macbook, where it still requires two clicks). However, when I disable it I get several warnings in the Lighthouse audit of Chrome like: unused JavaScript, third-party code, passive listeners, and a couple of other issues in the accessibility and best practices report.

I’d like to display the video on my website but without affecting its performance, I guess I would have to accept the double clicks on mobile (and the three in safari)? Keeping the cache thumbnails locally makes a big difference 🙂

afraid I don’t have an Apple device to test on, no idea what’s happening there I’m afraid .. :-/

but indeed, not caching thumbnails locally helps avoiding the 2 (or 3, which is news to me) clicks makes LYTE work less efficiently on mobile (root cause: video on mobile cannot autoplay, but the first click on LYTE loads the *real* YT vid and if autoplay does not work you need to click a 2nd time).

yes unfortunately, it requires 2 clicks on a Mac, and 3 on iPhone while using Safari. I’ve checked in multiple devices already. I will still continue using the plugin though, as I can show a video without harming performance. Thank you for your answer and for checking.

The 3 clicks remain a bit of a mystery to me … can you test the video on https://blog.futtta.be/2013/10/16/music-from-our-tube-melt-chet-faker-kilo-kish/ on your iphone/ mac safari to see if you have to click 3 times there as well?
