Support » How-To and Troubleshooting » Tried to update URL and can't access site or admin
5 years ago
I tried to change my URL from http://www.willgoble.com/wp/ to just http://www.willgoble.com
Now I can’t log in to wp-admin, and my wp site has lost all aspects of theme and design.
How can I get back, I clearly did something wrong, looks like i”ve lost everything!!! HELP!!
Change the urls back, then see Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory.
I can’t get back to change the URLs back…can I do that through my hosting service?
I can’t log in to http://www.willgoble.com/wp/wp-admin
i just get an error message
Now try reading the link I gave above. You do not need access to your admin area.
thank you, sorry, I didn’t see it was a link.
I’m getting this now, after I inserted the approriate code in the functions.php file and reuploaded that through FTP:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/gobleswing/willgoble.com/wp/wp-content/themes/Minimal/functions.php on line 4
Did you add the lines after the opening <?php tag? It also looks like you may have omitted one or more quote marks. You have to follow the instructions exactly.
I restored it, thanks for your patience!
I needed to u[date the wp-config file, the functions.php change didn’t do it, because WP couldn’t locate what it needed to, i got it.
Well done! Now review the second link if you want your WP site to take over the root domain.
