Support » Fixing WordPress » tried to move my WP Install

  • Ok, so I was rebuilding a site with wordpress and so I was doing this on the side in a temporary folder within the hosting directory. My site is in /euc (site root) and my WP was done in /blog inside my euc directory.

I logged into the Go Daddy account and initiaed a move of the wordpress since I think I am ready to roll out the new refreshed website. The new home page was working but my other pages and posts do not work. I ultimately had to move it back to where I had originally had it so I am able to have my site running live. Below is the message I received when trying to visit any of the content that was giving me an error.

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time and the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log

  • When you say ‘move the wordpress’, what do you mean exactly? Has your database changed server? Anything in the config file you should alter?

    Hey cinnamonstix

Have you seen Moving WordPress? That’s a very good, highly detailed guide.

It sounds like you haven’t yet told WordPress about where you’ve moved. If you go to Settings > General and adjust the WordPress and/or Site address to reflect the new location, that should do the trick for you.

OK, I think I got it finally after a lot of fighting, thanks guys

Ok, one more minor thing….when going to login now I am getting a redirect “”

How do I stop it from redirecting to the old /blog location? I am running from the root now and everything seems good aside from this wonky annoying redirect when I am logging it.
