Support » Plugin: FooGallery - Responsive Photo and Image Gallery for WordPress » Tried several gallery plugins and chose this one

  • mynameisrichardcs54

I tried several of the more popular galleries with 100,000+ installations and this is the one I like the best. It was the simplest to use and looks just as good, if not better than the others. It also seems to be very light-weight. If it lacks one feature, it’s creating taxonomies for galleries and albums with integration into the wordpress theme menu editor. Given that it is extension based, I may just have to pull my finger out and write it myself if I get any time!

The support area is very quiet also.

Thanks for the great review @mynameisrichardcs54

I would like to find out more info around your suggestion for taxonomy integration into the theme menu editor. Is there another plugin that does this? I do not understand how a taxonomy and a menu would work together. Please provide more info.

    thanks again

    Hi @bradvin.

My end goal is to have a menu on my site that’s called Galleries (because I’m real good at naming things) that works in the same way as any other menu. I could probably abuse posts and post-categories to do what I want but it feels clunky.

I haven’t completely thought this through yet, so what follows may be a terrible idea. Feel free to call me out on it if it is!

    1. Allow addition of categories to galleries and albums, just like posts.
    2. Add a new panel to the Appearance -> Menus page for Foo Gallery
    1. Allows the addition of categories, albums and galleries like a combination of the catergory / posts boxes
    • Provide templates for rendering the pages, picking up the data from the gallery rather than the posts.
