tried it all – can't fix width…twentyeleven is still responsive

  • Folks – anything that can be done to help me cross this hurdle would be greatly appreciated. Want to fix my twentyeleven child width.

I have searched and tried things for literally weeks – all the media width changes, completely removing the responsive structure, changing max-width to just width, adding min widths… NOTHING seems to work!

I am still getting my sidebar down below content. I am still getting a green background area when i resize my browser and scroll.

The seemingly latest and greatest method I read about was that all that had to be done was remove responsive and set a min width at #page in css. didn’t work.

    Please have a looksee?

  • well, looks like by cleaning out the responsive structure and combining css from parent, I have managed to keep the sidebar stationary. BUT, now the background is also fixed. How to let that go as wide as required?

If anyone runs into this, the way I fixed it was
    1. remove all responsive structure from parent css. There are ways you can bypass editing the parent css – either not importing parent css and instead copying into the beginning of your own child css, or via advanced design plugin.
    2. simply add min-width: 1000px to #page in the global css.

    Good luck to all!
